What advantages does the Turtleneck® Straw have over plastic and glass?
The special thing about our Turtleneck® Straw is its flexible mouthpiece combined with its reusability. Nobody has ever managed to combine these two characteristics! Because we don't want to forego any functional or design aspects, even with reusable alternatives. Unlike its plastic twin, the Turtleneck® Straw is reusable and does not contain harmful BPA. Due to its stability and resistance to breakage as well as its special bendability, it also stands out from the glass straw as a reusable alternative without sacrifice. This meant we were able to eliminate all the weaknesses of previous alternatives!
For which drinks can I use the Turtleneck® Straw?
For almost all hot and cold drinks. Our Turtleneck® Straw is currently available in three lengths and colors. This offers a wide range of possible uses - from shots to smoothies to XXL cocktails. The Turtleneck® Straw gives every drink a distinctive look. Thanks to its heat-resistant material and its large diameter, soups, thicker smoothies and hot drinks can also be enjoyed without worry. In contrast to the well-known plastic straw, our stainless steel straw always retains its shape even in the heat and stays pleasantly cool in the mouth even with warm drinks.
What material is the Turtleneck® Straw made of?
For the Turtleneck® Straw we only use stainless steel with the material quality seal 1.4301 - the gold standard in the food industry. It is a stainless steel that has a high proportion of chromium (18% - 20%) and nickel (8% - 10.5%). These two components make stainless steel an everyday material that can be found in every kitchen. Chromium ensures the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. In combination with nickel, the stainless steel becomes even more resistant.
Good to know: The nickel content is not a disadvantage! On the contrary: the higher the nickel content, the more dishwasher-safe the stainless steel is.
How safe and stable is the Turtleneck® Straw?
The Turtleneck® Straw is one of the safest and most stable straw alternatives currently available on the market. We only use stainless steel with the material quality seal DIN 1.4301 to manufacture it. In contrast to glass or cardboard, it is easy to bend and at the same time extremely stable and robust - a prerequisite for the safe bendability and longevity of our reusable straw. Thanks to our high-quality and independently tested stainless steel, our drinking straw is also free of toxic chemicals, pollutants, petroleum and BPA and also allows the reusable straw to be cleaned easily and without leaving any residue either by hand or in the dishwasher. And its rounded edges and large opening ensure a comfortable and safe feeling when drinking.
Will the Turtleneck® Straw change the taste of my drink?
No. For the Turtleneck® Straw we only use food-safe, taste-neutral stainless steel of material quality DIN 1.4301 - the gold standard in the food industry, which can therefore be found in every kitchen. Cooking pots, drinking bottles and cutlery are also made of this stainless steel.
How durable is the kink of the Turtleneck® Straw?
The Turtleneck® Straw can be used as a drinking straw forever even with normal use.
But of course nothing is indestructible – like everything in life. Even we cannot switch off physics. With a high bending frequency of hundreds of times per second, the resulting frictional heat can cause the material to become brittle.
Does the Turtleneck® Straw rust?

Thanks to our high-quality and shatterproof stainless steel, it is free of toxic chemicals, pollutants, petroleum and BPA and will not shatter if you bite. That's why our Turtleneck® Straw has also been certified by Intertek® as mechanically safe and chemically safe.
Does the Turtleneck® Straw already have appropriate product certifications?
Yes! Thanks to our high-quality stainless steel, our Turtleneck® Straw is free of toxic chemicals, pollutants, petroleum and BPA. The Tick Mark certification also confirms the quality. Independent third parties from Intertek® tested the product and ultimately demonstrated its ease of cleaning and mechanical and chemical safety. So you can be confident that you are receiving a safe product.
What is the best way to clean it? Is it dishwasher safe?
The Turtleneck® Straw can be cleaned quickly and without leaving any residue in the dishwasher. If there is no dishwasher available or if stubborn drink residue needs to be removed, the cleaning brush provided can also be used.
Good to know: The diameter of our drinking straw allows sufficient water flow for safe cleaning in the dishwasher. The high-quality material also ensures that the Turtleneck® Straw is at least as hygienic to clean as, for example, a glass straw. Because our stainless steel is very robust and durable and can easily withstand extremely high temperatures in the dishwasher - germs and viruses are removed just as safely as beverage residues. What should you pay attention to when cleaning in the dishwasher?
The easiest way to clean the Turtleneck® Straw is in the dishwasher. To do this, simply bend the drinking straw straight and place it upright in the cutlery basket or alternatively place it on the bars of the dishwasher. Water and cleaning agents flow through the large opening and clean our reusable straw as thoroughly as plates and glasses. The hot water also ensures that germs and viruses are safely removed.
Does your drinking straw come in different colors?
Yes! Our reusable straw is currently available in silver, gold and rainbow. This gives it a personal touch and makes it the perfect companion for every occasion.
In which lengths is the Turtleneck® Straw available?
The Turtleneck® Straw is currently available in three different lengths. With its 15cm, our "Shorty" is particularly suitable for small glasses such as tumblers or shots. Our 22cm long Turtleneck® Straw fits into almost any standard drinking glass and is therefore a real all-rounder. If you prefer to enjoy your cocktail in an XXL glass or sometimes need a drinking straw for a small bottle, then our "Longy" with 28 cm is exactly the right alternative for you.
Why does the Turtleneck® Straw have such a large diameter?
Our outer diameter of 8.5mm is comparable to that of many other paper and glass straws. The diameter of our drinking straw allows sufficient water flow for safe cleaning in the dishwasher.
Can I also design the straw individually?
Absolutely! For example, using laser engraving, you can easily engrave a company logo, a website or a name onto our stainless steel straw and customize it with your own branding. There are no limits to your imagination. You can use the entire length of the straw to realize your ideas. This makes the Turtleneck® Straw an eye-catcher for your customers and an unmistakable symbol of sustainability for your company. The minimum order quantity for a drinking straw including individual laser engraving is currently 100 pieces.
How and where is the Turtleneck® Straw made?
We also pay attention to fairness and sustainability in the production, packaging and shipping of our stainless steel drinking straws. Our partner's factory in the German-Chinese zone is located in an eco-park that manufactures according to European social and environmental standards ( http://www.sgep-qd.de/index/index ). Our reusable straw is also packaged and shipped in 100% plastic-free and biodegradable cotton or paper packaging.
Is a brush always included?
Naturally. Each set includes a cleaning brush with which the Turtleneck® Straw can be cleaned just as quickly and without leaving any residue as in the dishwasher.
