The alternative straw for social institutions, elderly and care facilities, persons with disabilities
The EU’s plastics regulation will come into force in June 2021. Thus, single-use plastic such as plastic straws, for which there are no functional alternatives, must be removed from the range. However, this ban on disposable straws poses major problems for social institutions, retirement and nursing homes and people with disabilities, who in their everyday life are inevitably dependent on these flexible plastic straws and now have to find workable and, above all, bendable alternatives to disposable straws.
With the Turtleneck Straw® we have developed an optimal solution for social facilities, elderly care and nursing homes. Because our reusable straw is the first bendable straw alternative that has all the positive properties of a plastic straw and thus replaces it identically.
Flexible reusable straw
The Turtleneck Straw® is the flexible alternative to other straws. By using flexible stainless steel, its mouthpiece can be bent easily and infinitely and replaces the plastic straw in function and feel. The use of food-safe stainless steel with the DIN 1.4301 material quality as well as its large diameter and the rounded edges of the mouthpiece ensure a long service life and maximum safety. In this way, we guarantee a high level of drinking comfort and a natural taste experience. The Turtleneck Straw® is a high-quality and safe alternative to straws made of paper, pasta or glass. Due to our almost 60 years of experience in the processing of stainless steel, we only use stainless steel with the material quality DIN 1.4301 for the production of our reusable straws. Our reusable straw is easy to bend and at the same time extremely strong, which is a prerequisite for the safe bending of our reusable straw. In addition, it is food-safe, hygienically harmless and easy to clean. This guarantees that our Turtleneck Straw®, despite its flexibility, is more robust and durable than many other straw alternatives and that both cool and hot liquids can be safely consumed. Thanks to the use of high-quality and unbreakable stainless steel, it is also free of toxic chemicals, pollutants, petroleum and BPA and does not splinter if the straw is bitten.

Three different lengths, a large diameter of 9 mm and the use of a material that does not transmit heat offer a wide range of possible uses. With our drinking straw alternative, hot soups and coffee specialties can be enjoyed just as safely as cold smoothies and soft drinks. Our large reusable straw in particular is ideal for people with disabilities. Not only is it flexible and has a large opening that makes drinking easier, but its length also makes it easy to bring to the mouth. Medication can also be taken without any problems.
Particularly large diameter for social facilities:
So that people with disabilities can easily consume medication, liquid food or drinks, we have developed a drinking straw with a larger diameter of 10.5 mm after having consulted with some social institutions. This makes it easier for fluids to be taken in. The oval compression of the end piece, which is leaned against a sippy cup, ensures an optimal drinking experience.
Hygienic cleaning
The Turtleneck Straw® is also the hygienic alternative to other straw alternatives. Compared to common straws made of metal or glass, the Turtleneck Straw® is flexible and has a large opening so that the water can flow through even better when cleaning. This means that it cannot only be cleaned with the cleaning brush, but also in the dishwasher without leaving any residue. The material of our straw alternative also contributes to the fact that the Turtleneck Straw® can be cleaned at least as hygienically as, for example, a glass straw. Because our stainless-steel is extremely robust and heat-resistant up to a temperature of 80 degrees. Germs and bacteria are removed just as safely as beverage residues.
Cleaning in the dishwasher:
Since our straw alternative is extremely robust and temperatures up to 80 degrees are no problem, we recommend cleaning the Turtleneck Straw® in the dishwasher of the care facilities.
- 1. Bend the Turtleneck Straw® straight for residue-free cleaning
- 2. Place the straws to be cleaned upright in the available wash basket or in our dishwasher basket for up to 40 straws, that we specially developed for social institutions. For particularly "sticky" beverages, we recommend placing our stainless-steel straw in a water bath shortly before the cleaning. In this way, stubborn residues can be removed quickly and easily
